Dear colleagues!
Inspired by the overall increase in TV viewing in September, we expected this trend to continue in October. However, according to the results of October, the total TV viewing grew by only 0.15 p.p. and reached the level of 5.59%. Average daily reach remained at the level of the previous month, while average viewing time increased by only 8.5 minutes. As by the end of October, the panel had numbered over 461,000 active households.
Despite the lack of significant growth in TV viewing, there were some pretty interesting changes in the viewer’sbehavior in October. The top channels of the largest group of general viewing channels lost their share, but sports channels on football theme significantly increased their share of viewing. As for the news channels, which should generate heightened interest in the month before the elections, haven not taken the chance and barely improved their audience. General viewing channels
In October, the arrangement of the top three channels did not change: 1 + 1 channel retained its leadership, while ‘Ukraine’ Channel ranks second. 1 + 1 had a 12.12% viewing share in October (a decrease of 0.39 pp), and “Ukraine” Channel - 9.87% (a decrease of 0.43 pp). The “Pluses” has generated 660.7 thousand contacts, while “Ukraine” channel numbered this figure to 659.3 thousand. The third place was taken by the ICTV channel with a view share of 8.14% (a decrease of 0.79 pp and 601.7 thousand contacts). STB was able to improve the share of views immediately by 0.41 p.p. and ranks fourth (view share 7.60%, generated 661.6 thousand contacts). Novy Channel is in fifth place, gaining 0.32 pp in October. (The share of viewing is 6.80%, the number of contacts with the channel is 584.8 thousand), while Inter channel remains in sixth place with 4.82% (the share of views dropped by 0.18 p.p., 502.3 thousand contacts were generated).
In total for the group of general viewing channels gained 5,250,000 contacts with IPTV / OTT households in October.
Sports channels
In October, the interest in football channels increased again. Football 2 channel received first place with a 3.80% views share (an increase of 0.90 p.p.), and Football 1 channel (a 2.69% views share, increased 0.60 p.p in October) stood on second position. Football 2 has received 293.8 thousand contacts, and Football 1 been watched by 249.9 thousand households. In third place is Football 3, with a share viewing of 0.99% (the viewing share increased by 0.17 p.p., the number of contacts with the channel - 183.2 thousand). The fourth place occupies Setanta Sports HDchannel with a share viewing of 0. 65% and 94.5 thousand contacts. FIGHTBOX HD ranks fifth with a views share for0.26% and 66.3 thousand contacts made.
Overall, the group of sports channels has generated about 1,670,000 contacts.
Movie channels
In October, TV 1000 East continued to hold the leading position (the viewing share of 1.88%, an increase of 0.14 pp). , more than 340,700 unique households connected to IPTV / OTT platforms watched TV 1000 East within a month with an average time of 41.1 minutes throughout Ukraine.
TV 1000 Action East channel with an indicator of 1.20% (an increase of 0.07 p.p., the number of contacts - 250.2 thousand) is in second place in the group. The third place in the group is held by ViP Comedy (the viewing share of 0.78%, an increase of 0.09 pp), which was viewed by 217.9 thousand households. In fourth place is the Enter Filmchannel (the viewing share of 0.57%, an increase of 0.04 pp, the number of contacts with channel - 207.4 thousand). VIP Premiere HD channel (the share of viewing increased by 0.10 p.p. to 0.45%) took the fifth place - the channel hasreached 61.5 thousand households in October.
Totally the group of movie channels has gained 2,300,000 contacts with IPTV / OTT households in October.
Entertainment channels
In October, the group leader, TET channel, slightly increased (an increase in the share of views by 0.02 p.p. to 3.29%), generating 443 thousand contacts with IPTV / OTT households throughout Ukraine. The average viewing time of TET was 48.3 minutes.
NLO-TV channel is in second place with a viewing share of 1.58% (an increase of 0.02 percentage points). The share of MEGA channel in third place fell to 0.51%. NLO-TV had 252.7 thousand contacts with the viewers, while Mega channel - 216.2 thousand. The Sonce channel was in fourth place with an indicator of 0.37% (an increase of 0.04 percentage points), and OCE TV took the fifth place (the share of viewing decreased by 0.09 p.p. and amounted to 0.36%)
Generally the group of entertainment channels has reached 2,010,000 contacts with IPTV / OTT households within a month.
Children's channels
The share of viewing for the Plus Plus channel dropped by 0.14 p.p. to the level of 2.10%, however, the channel remains in the first place, having generated 182.9 thousand contacts in October. Nickelodeoncame in second (its viewer share increased by 0.08 p.p. to 1.07 %), while PIXEL (down 0.06 p.p. to 0.81%) was ranked third, respectively. Nickelodeon has generated 66.2 thousand contacts, and Pixel - 158.9 thousand. The fourth place is taken by theCartoon Network channel, which viewing share dropped by 0.15 percentage points up to 0.68%, and the number of contacts was 26.8 thousand.
For instance generally, there were 1,070,000 contacts with households connected to the IPTV / OTT panel the children's channels reached during October,.
News channels
The first place among the news channels continues to be held by the Ukraine 24 channel, which share of viewing has increased by 0.13 percentage points to 1.72 % in October (the channel received 313.6 thousand contacts and the average viewing time of 27.3 minutes). The viewing share of the PRYAMIY channel, which ranked second, sank by 0.03 p.p. down to 0.70%. The channel received 130.7 thousand unique contacts in October and the average viewing time for 47.4 minutes. Channel 112 showed a viewing share of up to 0.65%, that is 0.06 p.p. lower comparing it’s result in September, and ranks third gathering 165.3 thousand contacts. The average viewing time lasts for 35.4 minutes. The fourth place belongs to the News One channel – according the results in October, its share of viewing was 0.60%, the number of contacts has reached 133.8 thousand. Channel 24 has generated 47.2 thousand contacts (the viewing share dropped by 0.01 p.p. to the level of 0, 36%), which is in fifth place.
The total number of contacts inside IPTV / OTT the news channels amounted 1,860,000 households throughout Ukraine in October.
Documentary channels
The first place in the group continues to be held by Viasat Historyl, which viewing share has increased by 0.04 p.p. to 0.60% (the total number of contacts gained- 145 thousand), and the Viasat Explore CEE channel ranks second next with an indicator of 0.49% (an increase of 0.07 pp). The number of channel contacts with IPTV / OTT households throughout Ukraine amounted to 115.6 thousand. NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC took the third place with a viewing share of 0.47% (increased by 0.02 percentage points). The HISTORY channel (0.37% view share, an increase of 0.01 p.p.) is in fourth place, and Viasat Nature CEE is in fifth with 0.32% (plus 0.02 p.p. its last chart).
The average viewing time for the channels – the group leaders in October were: Viasat History -41.8 minutes, Viasat Explore CEE -42.5 minutes, NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC -34.6 minutes.
Counting by a group, the documentary channels has generated 1,920,000 contacts with IPTV / OTT households in October.
TV series channels
The group of TV channels demonstrating series is headed by BIGUDI channel, which received a view share of 0.38% (unchanged) and generated 98.2 thousand contacts with IPTV / OTT households in October. In second place is Paramount Comedy channel, the share of views has increased by 0.03 p.p. up to 0.34%. Sony Entertainment Television channel ranks third with a 0.33% viewing share.
Overall the group of TV series channels has gained 614.9 thousand contacts with IPTV / OTT households throughout Ukraine.
Music channels
M1 ranks first - its viewing share has dropped to 0.45%, so as followed by MUSIC BOX UA (the share of views decreased by 0.08 p.p. to 0.25%). EU MUSIC ranks third with a 0.22% view share.
Generally on group of music channels’ audience with 957 thousand contacts gained within IPTV / OTT in October.
Regional channels
In October, TV Channel Z remains in first place among the regional channels group in share of viewing 0.079%. The second place is occupied by the ‘Donbass’ channel with an indicator of 0.068%. Channel 34, with a viewing share of 0.056%, took the third place. To ongoing next Channel 4 with a viewing share of 0.037%, remains fourth, and as so KIEV channel with an indicator within 0.026% of the view share.
In October, the group of regional channels received over 1 million contacts with households.
